It all started with a bang.

A car was doused in flames as Lana Elder tried to get out to save her unborn son. Lana and her husband, Joseph, had been on their way to the hospital to deliver their baby when the car lit up in flames. It was a freak accident, something neither of them thought would happen on the way to welcome their son, but Joseph was all but dead and Lana fought to untie herself from the seatbelt. While she was able to get out of the car, she was losing life fast when paramedics arrived on the scene. Even though both were rushed to the hospital, Joseph was pronounced dead and the focus was getting the baby delivered if Lana was going to have a shot.Unfortunately, shortly after the delivery, but not before her son touched her hand, Lana died.

Both Lana and Joseph were scientists, only children who had no living relatives and very little relationships outside of work. They were the neighbors who never bothered anyone and many wondered if they were still there. The only reason that anyone would have known that they died was if they read the paper. The story of the Elder’s tugged on Mary Caulfield’s heartstrings and she contacted the appropriate parties to see if it was possible to adopt the little boy. Mary and Jacob Caulfield had been trying for years to have a baby of their own to no avail and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity at parenthood, all the while helping a child in need. The little boy was brought to them later and they raised him as their own and named him Kyle.

The Caulfield’s had a farm outside of Wichita, Kansas and Kyle learned about hard work from a very ripe age. Every morning he would get up early to help with chores and anything that needed to be done before he was off to school. Being the only son and child of the Caulfield’s was something that Kyle took seriously and he didn’t want to do anything that would let them down. It meant studying hard, while still completing his chores. Sometimes that didn’t leave time for many friends but Kyle made do with the ones that he had, spending his summer times riding bicycles or playing a game or two of baseball in the cornfields.

High school was a very important time for Kyle, considering that he would be the first in his family to go to college. It was an honor that he wanted to accomplish and not only that, but exceed everyone’s expectations. Being the good student that he was, he set his sights on Harvard, though Mary wasn’t sure her son would make it into such a prestigious school. Of course she knew that her son was smart but Harvard, well it was just so far beyond her level of comprehension. The day he received his acceptance letter, Mary and Jacob sat their son down to explain that he was adopted, a fact that they had never told him. Kyle wasn’t angry, he couldn’t be, because they were his parents and the people that raised him almost from birth. He graduated first in his class before moving to Cambridge to start the next adventure of his life.

And what an adventure it was. Life on the east coast was very different from the mid-west and Kyle was trying to adjust the best that he could. His major was in comparative literature, as he wanted to become an English teacher one day. That dream, however, started to fade when, while taking a class on journalism, Kyle interned at a local television news station. The world of journalism fascinated him and he wanted to be part of something that helped people. When they put on the news and saw a smiling face, trying to reassure them things would be alright, that is what Kyle wanted to do. He knew what his next step needed to be and he finished his Bachelor’s degree and applied to New York University where he would study broadcast journalism to make his new dreams a reality.

Even though Kyle was far from shy, he noticed that he got camera shy very early on in his studies. It was simply because the little farm boy from Kansas was not used to such things but once he got the hang of it, his natural charm and humble qualities were the things that came through the most. New York City was great; it was a little too busy for Kyle’s liking, and the thought had occurred to him after graduation that he could move back to Kansas and try a hand at the local news there. However, he had fallen in love with Cambridge and Boston while attending Harvard and it was the perfect mix between Wichita and New York City for him.

Upon graduation, Kyle returned to the television station he had once interned for, WHDH 7 Boston, and started as a field reporter. The field was fun; it was exciting to meet all of Boston’s fine folks but Kyle always had bigger dreams and ambitions. Through hard work he would move up the ranks until 7 years ago, he was placed as one of the co-anchors of the nightly news. It was a coveted spot and the viewers love Kyle’s charm and class while delivering the news. Work is very important to him, so important that sometimes Kyle forgets about the finer things in life, such as dating. Even though he’s had a few serious girlfriends, he’s always been too busy with work or one of his many philanthropic causes to truly settle down. He’s thought about it often but he’s also waiting for the one.
basic information
Superman, also known as the Man of Steel, is one of the most powerful superheroes in the DC Universe. His abilities include incredible super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability, freezing breath, flight, and heat-vision.

Born as Kal-El on the dying planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lara sent him in a rocket to the planet Earth where he would be the last surviving member of his race. His rocket was discovered by the kindly Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raised him as their son Clark Kent in the town of Smallville, Kansas. His upbringing provided him with strong moral values, and life-long friends Lana Lang and Pete Ross. In his secret identity he works as a reporter at the Daily Planet in the city of Metropolis. This is where he interacts with his love interest Lois Lane, and his co-workers Perry White and Jimmy Olsen. His greatest nemesis is the brilliant super-villain Lex Luthor. To preserve the memory of his home planet and provide him rest from his double-life and adventures, he maintains a Fortress of Solitude at the North Pole.

Superman remains proud of his dual heritage, taking seriously the lessons of his birth-parents and his adopted parents. Although he is an alien to this world, he heavily values his humanity, and fights with conviction for truth, justice, and the American way. There are several other heroes inspired by or directly related to his legacy, including Superboy and Supergirl. He is also a member of the Justice League of America and the Legion of Super-Heroes.
